Ever worry about a lynch mob?

I had one of those cashiers today. You know the type. Carefully reads every coupon to make sure its good. Slowly checks the cash register receipt. Gives you heck for not giving her the coupons at the proper time.

When I started in the line there was no one behind me. By the time I was finished there were two huge lines.

One day I'm sure we are going to hear about someone going postal cause some lady had one too many coupons and they broke under the strain of waiting.

Its gonna happen, I know its gonna happen. I just hope its not me they get. No one said anything to me but I could feel the tension.

And to think I thought this was a safe hobby with no real dangers other than a papercut or lost coupon

    I like to think that I am not the only one who does not mind the wait in the cashier's line under normal circumstances. No big deal. So give yourself a little leeway. Those of us behind you in line are not all imaptient, and certainly not angry. Not everyone has as much unscheduled time as I do, but even the mucho-busy do not necessary have short fuses. Most people are fairly benevolent.

    I've been in grocery lines (and you probably have too) with people who've forgotten their money or had their credit/debit cards rejected, changed their mind about purchases, etc., etc. Generally people are pretty understanding if the wait is not too long.
    So I don't feel uncomfortable about presenting some coupons. I do my part by double checking my coupons before I get in line. When the cashier greets me, I mention that I have some coupons; sometimes that seems to smooth the way.
    The only other option is to shop at an off time. I like going in the early morning because there are usually fewer customers.

    Well, everyone in front of me takes their time with getting extra cash, redeeming coupons or just plain chit-chat, so no need to worry, everyone does it at some time and of course the moment of impatience always passes.

    If I have a lot of coupons I will tell people who get into line behind me that I have them and they may want to use another aisle. They usually go to another checker once they see how many I have.
