Oh man this could be my to - do list

July 24th, 2006 at 12:04 am

I have had a 35 item to do list today! I'm proud to say that of the 35 items I'm down to a mere 10 left to do! Actually I'm pretty happy about how I'm doing on this list. Vacation nights are booked, the triptiks are printed from AA and I've even clipped coupons for some fast food places - I'll make sure I have those with me.

Anyways, during some searching I found this. Honest I didn't create it Smile

    Ah, the dreaded to-do list.

I've maintained one for years myself. It's been extremely helpful to me, mostly as a reminder to myself of the things that I would have ordinarily forgotten to do if I hadn't written it down.

However, it can also be slightly irksome to me. Naturally, if it gets too long, I start to feel overwhelmed. The other thing about it is that there are some things on there that I either can't figure out how to do (yet) or I can't get it done right away. So, it just sits there... just rotting away... on my list.

I think it also helps to prioritize them, and focus on the list in order from the most important to the least. That way, you can selective ignore the least important ones while you concentrate on the most important ones.

To-do lists are rather interesting creatures I think. A blank one shows either a list that is seriously in need of being worked on, or it's the ideal list you want to do see because you've worked on them enough to get rid of everything! A blank list is a very good feeling to me indeed. Hence the irony. Get them done, nothing is on there.

So far, I have 3 items on there. Two are rotting because one has to do with the end of the year, and the other can't be done because I've lost the item in question. I forgot what the third one is, but... I guess that's why I'm glad I wrote it down.

Haha. Ok, I've rambled enough.... Excellent comic, by the way. I'm going to swipe myself a copy if you don't mind.

    Borrow away!

And yeah i found that writing things down today took a load off of my mind and let me focus on doing stuff and not remembering to do stuff

Great cartoon! And so apt. I know that I've been procrastinating on writing the to-do list myself because I know it's going to feel overwhelming!

I usually always make to-do lists. A couple weeks ago I made a to-do list, but is was front and back. I laid it on my desk, never to be seen again. I found it yesterday, and to my surprise, half of the items were done. Sweet. I am going to re-do my list today.
