Why are you frugal?

February 8th, 2007 at 01:25 pm

I love being frugal because it allows me to be generous in other ways. My objective is to spend my money mindfully not to be the stingiest on the block. So frugality for me directly leads to mindful generousity... and allows me to have my financial house in order at the same time!

Why do you love being frugal?

I love being frugal becus in the long run, it provides me with greater choices and freedom. I also prefer to consciously spend on those items that mean something to me, rather than spend wantonly without paying attention to cost.

I love being frugal because I detest the idea of working as a slave to pay advertisers for junk I don't need

I love being frugal because it gives me the security of having money stashed away for little family emergencies(cats out of dry cat food, son needs new pair of tennis shoes, etc) or just having it there to build upon when the next month rolls around.

I also like being frugal because it helps me to track where the money goes and to draw up a personal budget. It puts me in control of the money instead of the money controlling me.

I am frugal partly because of my personality, and partly because it's a holy war whether I like it or not.

As a personality trait, I've always naturally leaned towards minimalism. In that, I mean, I don't like clutter too much. I like it when everything has a place and reason. One of the unintended consequence of that minimalistic tendency is frugality.

As a holy war, I've am up against a lot of debt (in my eyes). I have learned that to have debt is basically to live with borrowed money and borrowed time. This is terrible because the longer I am in debt, the more my future life withers away.

Of course, we can debate that it's not so simple as those terms, but that's a discussion for a different place at a different time. Overall, I believe that the sooner I can become debt-free and have money work for ME, the better!

Like everyone else, I too dream of a better life, and achieve that for myself is to slay my own personal debt dragon.

I love being frugal because paying less on one thing that isn't necessary to spend a lot of money on allows me to spend more on things I need to do, like making regular payment on the credit card. It also allows me to be able to budget for good health care and health supplements.
