Freaking Passwords and Security Questions

March 23rd, 2007 at 04:19 am

Dang it! Dang it! Dang it!

If its not enough we all have 5 million passwords to remember now we have to remember security questions too.

Obviously by the tone of this post I am not going a good job of this.

Now I'm locked out of my checking and savings accounts.

I'm locked out of my Amertrade account too. I have to give them a call to get it reopened.

Come to think of it, I'm locked out of my old credit union. I'm not sure why, it could be because I hardly use it anymore.

Don't forget site key photos and things like that... .

    good times, good times.

I keep telling myself I'll create a spreadsheet that lists all of my passwords but I never do...

These have been driving me batty because I set them to save all my computers (Recognize them) but none of my accounts recognize any of my computers.

I know it's a good thing but it is driving me nuts. I got locked out of vanguard - LOL. I Was worried at first someone else got in and changed the password too - duh.

A good reccomendation is to create an algorithm that uses words in the website and a set formula. SO it varies by website but is easy to figure out to you.

I have been meaning to do so but keep forgetting.

Like "first three letters of website"@DOB last 4 #s of SS.com

A good solid password easy to remember - changes for each website or account.

I feel your frustration! I'm locked out of my account at Emigrant right now. I decided to not bother trying to get back into it unless I actually need the little bit of money in there. - just let that sit and earn interest for now. Rolleyes
Monkeymama - I like your idea for a password - much better idea than what I do for my passwords. Smile
